I'm wanting to calculate rail travel costs to make a comparison with air travel to find which is the more economical of the two. And I need to some help as to how I go about doing this.
I can easily find out the costs of a rail pass.
But as I also know that there are additional costs from reserving a seat and booking a couchette cabin. Where can I find a list of these costs? I've tried looking at the various websites of the rail providers, but to no avail.
Anyone has any idea, please?

dddx, the first step I'd try would be to enter all destinations into Railsaver, to determine the most appropriate combination of Rail passes and P-P tickets. That site also provides the option for specifying which segments of a journey will be done by air. Regarding your other question, you should be able to get a good estimate of the reservation and Couchette costs by reading www.ricksteves.com/rail/usepass.htm. I find that renting a Couchette is often about the same price as a Hostel, so I usually avoid night trains (especially if they have numerous changes during the night!). Hope this helps!
