What would be the cheapest way to get to Switzerland from Canada I am going for my grandma's birthday and am hoping to find a way to save some money on the ticket.
I was thinking it might be cheaper to fly to another country like france or england as there is many cheaper flights to these places that I have seen and then take the train or a cheap flight from some one like Ryanair? Also i live in mississauga so i would be leaving from pearson airport.
Any one have any expertise to share with me on this. I plan to go end of june to july since thats when the celebration is.

spetz, as you're flying from Toronto, you might have a look at Air Transat, as they have flights to Basel from Toronto / Pearson. If the timing of those flights doesn't fit your schedule, you could also consider flying Air Transat to Munich, and then taking the train to Switzerland. I haven't checked prices, but as AT is a charter, the prices should be reasonable.
Hope this helps. Happy travels!

Zoom to Paris or London is another option too.
Try Canadian Affair as well.
I would also look at FlyGlobeSpan, but I think their reliability is less than perfect.
Actually, all of the above, including Air Transat, can have significant delays if there is a plane problem, because they have small fleets. So if you do decide to fly into another country, keep in mind that you may not arrive at the scheduled time, and consider a one-night stay in your country of arrival and your country of departure.
