just back from our month long honeymoon backpacking europe. we hit paris, rome, venice, salzburg, vienna, krakow, berlin, amsterdam and london. it was pretty incredible and we're still trying to process it all, while trying to get back into "normal" life, lol. only thing I would have done differently was leave my big pack at home and brought a wheeled suitcase and small backpack. we didn't pack a lot but lugging it around so much + walking 8-10 hours a day really did our backs in. anyway, it was an incredible experience, now I just have to go through the massive amount of photos i took. ;D

First of all, congratulations! That sounds like a truly memorable honeymoon.
I wasn't clear on why you had problems with your Backpack? I left my "big" Backpack in the Hostel / B&B during the day, and just took either a Daypack or a photo vest when I was out touring. However, one always learns from each trip and finds a different way to improve travel methods on subsequent trips.
I can really appreciate what you're facing with the photos. I was only away for a few weeks on my last trip, and came home with hundreds of photos (both film and digital). I got quite a shock when I saw the bill for photo processing. Oh well, that was part of the learning experience and I was willing to accept that. Hopefully you'll be posting some photos -- I'm sure everyone on the Board will be anxious to see them.
Cheers!!!

yeah that's what we did too, it was the times we spent either wandering around looking for a hotel to stay in or trying to find a hotel's address that were the back killers. after an hour with it on it started to strain.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of reservations - solely for this reason! Even if you only make the reservation a couple days before, it's nice to know you have somewhere to go when you arrive. It's surprising how tired you are after a day of doing nothing on the train!

yeah we only had to do it in berlin (couldn't get anything in amsterdam so stayed an extra day) and krakow (money issues). everywhere else we booked online ahead of time.
