3 months in europe and 10 days in usa part1

Hey guys, i got back 3 fridays ago from europe and the usa...and i am so down...i just dont want to be in australia....ive never felt this depressed in my life coming back to the same old routine. Plus i met someone in florence who i followed back to the usa and we spent so many beautiful days together, we decided to try for a long distance rship and it was working for abit..was even going to go back sept 28th but now its ended..they couldnt handle the long distance aspect of it. So ive got that as an added downer on top of my post travel blues. Anyway the trip was great, i went to Czech republic (prague and cesky krumlov) Unfortunatley i could not visit Prague castle coz George Bush decided to make a little visit to Prague when i was there. Cesky krumlov was a charming little town, very picturesque. Then i made my way to salzburg in Austria. I spent 5 days there when u only need about 2 or 3 days. I did do the infamous sound of music tour which the austrians have never heard of!! Then off to Munich i went, i went to King Ludwigs famous castle..i would like to tell u the name but i just cant spell it. I also went to Dashau which was very moving. After that iwent to amsterdam, i love the energy and vibrancy of this city!!!! I felt at home as soon as i entered it....and i did experience some of the naughty things of amsterdam lol...then after this i went to Edinburgh. I took a plane there and i was strip searched at Edinburgh because i beeped as i went through customs. The detained me for 2 hrs to decide if i should be aloud to enter the united kingdom. They didnt find anything on me but they still didnt apologise...i got quite frustrated with the way they treated me and told them so. Anyway edinburgh was a beautful city...but it never had a blue sky the whole time i was there...this is where i started to get slightly sick....the next city to have my adventure in was Manchester iin England...i still felt slightly sick there and i sure as hell over did it..i partied everynight in Manchester and paid for it by the time i made it to London. London was the first big city i visited and it was amazing!! I was overwhelmed visually and mentally by this place and i loved it...seeing big ben ect for the first time expanded my heart to maximum emotions. Unfortuantely i got very sick in London with the flue and for about 4 days all i could do was lay in bed...however good always come out of the bad. My dad knows a family that lives in London so they let me stay with them for about 10 days, they live in the East End of London where tourists dont really congregate which was wonderful. Becauswe of this beautiful family i got to see more of London than initally planned After london i went to the seaside town of Brighton. The main reason i went there is because one of my favorite films quadrophenia was shot there. Brighton was great, i had a friend that lves there so she showed me all the cool little pubs and bars that were around..it was another place where i did alot of partying!!! Anyway part 2 will include paris, barcelona, a great deal of italy and greece and the greek islands. Im sorry this isnt the most descriptive post but im not feeling so hot right now...and im mainly doing this for myself to try and remember how great my trip to europe was, i dont want the ending of the rship to taint it. have fun..leanne

So glad to hear you enjoyed your trip so much, Leanne!

believe me, many travelers have withdrawal symptoms when they get home from a 1st trip. and to have the disappointment of your friendship with the American not working out would certainly compound those feelings. <where in USA did you go?>

is the Italian in Melborne you mentioned in an earlier post still in the picture? if so, perhaps she could be a distraction?

your bout with the flu doesn't sound like much fun. glad you had the support to make the best of it. you sound like a strong woman.

leanne, nice to hear that you had a great time on your European adventure! I can relate how hard it is to get back to the "daily grind", as I returned from holidays in the middle of October and I'm still working on that!

You're probably referring to Neuschwanstein or Hohenschwangau Castles just outside Fussen.

I also went to Dashau which was very moving

Did you take an organized tour of Dachau, or travel there on your own? I used Radius Tours when I was there last year, and they provided an incredible and moving tour of the site.
