I know this is a dumb question, but do most hostels have a seprate room just before the shower so I could have my towel and a place to get changed right as I get out of the shower? Or even if the hostel doesnt have a locker, is there a place to keep my moneybelt while showering?

I've never been in a hostel with a separate room - lots have individual cubicle showers though, although a minority have communal showers.
As for money belts, you could always hand it in at front desk. Failing that, work out a way to waterproof it.

I've seen it all ways. I'd get a couple plastic bags and make sure your moneybelt is securely wrapped, and bring it in with you if necessary. I think there's even a special sleeve you can buy for this purpose.
Some hostels have ensuite bathrooms that you can lock and have complete privacy. The drawback of these is that the wait can be longer than if all the bathrooms are just in the hall.
If the shower format is important to you, do some research beforehand so you can focus on hostels that have an arrangement you like.

If your traveling with a friend, get them to 'gaurd' your stuff while your in the shower. And vise versa. But if your solo and your really paranoid, do the waterproff thing and you will shower without amy cares on your mind!

Chris, it's not a "dumb question" at all. I've found some Hostels have a separate room for showering, with a place for clothes and money belts, and a lockable door. Others have very small showers which consist of two small cubicles with a lockable door. The first cubicle is for changing (and storing clothes, etc.) and the other is the actual shower. These are very small (about 4' x 4' from what I remember) but adequate. I haven't seen the "communal shower" arrangement yet.
I usually keep my Money Belt, Passport, etc. with me when showering, even if Lockers are provided. However, I always travel with several Zip-Lok bags in various sizes, so could use those if necessary (Zip-Lok bags are useful for many things, so you might want to add these to your packing list).
Cheers!!!
