First of all, I'm afraid I don't agree with you, Ging. I can't say I absolutely loved it, but I surely dindn't hate it! In my opinion, the story is great, I saw some good singers, but I like to listen to the music and understand the lyrics too. With opera this usually isn't really the case, I think. (and, this edition of Carmen being in French, makes it even more complicated ) Still, I had a nice night, the stage was beautiful, at some point there even were real horses and coaches! The opera being performed in a conference center though, meant the sound wasn't what it's supposed to be, and our seats were a bit far from the stage. I did get an upgrade, and didin't have to do anything to get it. They rearranged the seats, and ours were gone, so we got some seats a bit closer to the podium, wich was nice. So, in conclusion, I don't think I'll go to another opera in the near future, but, if someone asked me to go or, if I got cheap tickets, maybe I would. Cat

Carmen was sung in French??? Well, if it was in a conference center I should imagine acoustics were not top notch..... Hmmmmmmmm......think I'll pull an 'opera snob' reaction and say.....under the above circumstances you've not really seen opera done well yet! Glad you had a nice evening though, and if the opportunity arises, in better venue, try it one more time before you decide for sure! ging
