I promised a report on my dutch/american Thanksgiving, so, here it is. I had a great night. My american friend just got the date wrong... so we celebrated a week earlier, but it was fun! We had fruit salad (not the kind I'm used to, but I liked it !), patatoe salad, cole slaw, roasted ham, TURKY and stuffing, cranberry sauce, peas and carrots. And, ooooooh, to top it all off: Apple pie, pumpkin pie, AND chocolate pie! I almost burst and had to roll my way home Me like american traditions!!!!!!! Have you all had a nice Thanksgiving? Cat

(To David) Well, all I can say is ! By the way, how many foreign languages do you speak (and write)? (To Ginger) Maybe I translated the dish 'cole slaw' wrong. As you might have noticed, my 'food-related english' isn't that good. It is a salad with carrots, cabbage, raisins and apple. Cat (Just 26 more days before I'll see Carmen!)

(To David) By the way, how many foreign languages do you speak (and write)? i know a little German. but my grammer isn't so good anymore. and my Spanish is quite elementary. i was making a joke. most people don't even remember all the flack our former VP Dan Q. got for his spelling potato with an e on the end. actually, your English is *very* good! as i'm sure you've noticed, my English spelling isn't that good. yet, English is my 1st language and i even earned a BA!

David, First: thanks for the compliment! I wasn't mad, but I sometimes get a little frustrated, when I struggle with English spelling and grammer. But please correct me, I'd like to improve my English writing. I already learned a lot since I started visiting this board. It's nice to know I can beat a VP anytime! ;D (which says a lot, I think, about the governement of the States! ) Cat (who is now hiding, in fear of the reactions of all you Americans!)

Cat your english is very good, better than a lot of people I know that only speak/write english.
Carrots, cabbage, raisins and apple? I don't blame you for translating that wrong... I don't even have a clue what that is.
Anyways, I've got nothing to complain about on this topic - the extent of my language skills are about 10 sentences in french and 5 in swedish.

I just feel like putting my two cents on this...
I have to side with Ginger on that *cole slaw* is not really a regular at the Thanksgiving table. It is usually a side dish you get when you order sandwiches/ burguers in most American diners...at least the ones by the northeast part of the US.
And, Cat, your English is very good. ;D
Hasta luego!
