So what's everyone planning for Thanksgiving? I will be in Atlanta again. My best friend is running in the Atlanta marathon that day and I am going up to cheer her on! It's her first marathon, although she has always been a big runner. BTW....she's my best opera pal and was there with me a couple weeks ago. As a result though, there won't be much of a T'day feast. She won't feel like eating much for a while I am sure, and since neither of us live there we really have no place to cook one even were we so inclined. I'll miss the cooking more than the eating. I love to cook and that is a great day to shine! So.......what are you doing?? ging

This is awful! Just got off the phone with Aimee, my runner friend. With 15 weeks of hard training behind her and two 20 mile runs over the past three weeks in preperation for the marathon......she has a stress fracture in her tibia and the ortho doc told her absolutely no running for 6 - 8 weeks! And she doesn't even know exactly when she did it, but hasn't run any further than 6 miles the past week...a slowing down process that is part of the training. She is in tears of course and I feel so badly for her.
Guess I won't be going to Atlanta after all for T'day and will end up instead cooking for all my brood.

What a shame for your friend, Ging! I would feel terrible as well if something you've prepared for so long just slipped through your fingers. Well, I think you know my plans for Thanksgiving (not on the actual day, since we don't have the day off, of course). My friends have prepared me a bit and gave me a vision of patatoes, cranberry sauce, ham with hunny and feta cheese, pudding.....) Didn't hear the word turkey, though.... I'll just have to wait till next Saturday. Cat

If you are having ham, you won't get turkey-sorry, girl!
It's usually just one or the other. I've never heard of ham with honey and feta-sounds interesting! How 'bout pie-is there going to be a pumpkin or apple pie? I'm making myself hungry again!!

I always make ham and turkey....both....every year! And agree, have never heard of ham, honey and feta cheese? My 'cook's brain' can't seem to get around that one....Doesn't sound like it goes together, but hey, always ready for a new recipe! ging oh, and for pie....to accomodate everyone's favs we always have pumpkin, coconut cream, apple and lemon. Everyone it seems likes something different. Oh well, I just cook them!
