So I had sent my writing samples etc. away to Rough Guide.. here's the email I got back: Dear Kim, Re: Writing for Rough Guides Thank you for your recent letter and the enclosed samples of writing. Our travel publisher liked the pieces you sent and has requested that you be put on to our database. We've just completed our Europe book and the next edition of our Hawaii book is a little way off. But we're updating our USA and Canada guides this year and there may be some way you could contribute to them. We'll be in touch if anything suitable comes up. Thank you for your interest in Rough Guides. Yours sincerely, Karoline Densley Editorial Assistant Woo hoo!

Thanks, Ann! And don't be a lurker, join in! We are a little crazy but harmless, honest! Are you an Amazing Race fan? Cause after it starts on the 29th, I'm sure we will be talking about that ALL the time! LOL Kim

Great news Kim.....hopefully this will work into a 'paying' job for you that will allow you to travel to your heart's contnet. ;D Keep us up to date on what the status is with this. Regarding Amazing Race....I've never seen it. Not unusual for me as I did not watch Survivor or Idol first years out....once everyone started yakking about them felt I had to watch to see what everyone was talking about. Left to my own devices, I am not a TV person and need prodding to watch. So......someone kindly send me off a 'reminder' on the Race start date so I won't forget to tune in. g

You will LOVE the Amazing Race, ging. It is the best of the bunch - and it focuses on travel.
Basically a bunch of teams race around the world trying to get to certain places before other teams. In between, they are given tasks to perform etc. They have all different team dynamics, some are brothers, some are friends, mother/daughter etc.
Even the boyfriend is counting down the days to it.. and he mocks my reality TV watching!

Never seen it either... I'll have to check it out.
Congrats on the response from Rough Guides, I'm sure it's a great feeling to have a publisher show interest in your writing!

Great news Kim! ;D You certainly deserve to have a great job in the travel publishing industry. You've earned it with all your hard work on this website.
Amazing Race? Your description sounds cool - is it a Canadian show?

Congratulations, Kim!
But you really don't need the Rough Guides. I think you coud do just fine solo with Kim's Guide For Europe!
Cheers, Ray
