Okay....I watched.
Seems a bit hokey to me.....honestly think for this genre The Mole was better......not much 'expertise' needed, they basically lead them around by the nose don't cha think?
I mean....tickets for planes, buses, whatever are bought already...the only race to it is who gets to the 'wicket' ;D first. Would be better if they were left on their own to make flight/bus arrangements.
Really....come on Kim, you and I could win this thing. I'll keep watching but for this first showing have to say.....what's the big deal?
g - sorry to be less than thrilled
and won't comment on specific teams till I know everyone has seen it ;D

I forgot to watch it! I saw something that sounds like it last year though... it was some show where they dropped everyone off in the middle of nowhere and didn't tell them where. Then they had to find their way back to new york and they only had a certain amount of money, they had to beg for free rides and stuff... anyone remember what that show was called?

Can't remember the name...but watched that one last year. And it was much better, I thought, than this one. That show tested your abilities and ingenuity (sp) in that the players had to figure out how to do it and get it done. What was the name of that? ?? I liked that show a lot! g btw.....Amazing race is nothing like the above show.....here everything is preplanned and bought before hand....

Don't worry Ging, it gets way more interesting. Everything isn't pre-bought etc., trust me, it gets better! They have to make their own arrangements and that's where it gets good.
Haven't watched it yet (in half an hour) but the first episode is never much of anything.

The show where they were dropped off in Mongolia I believe and left to figure out where they were and then get back to New York is called Lost.

Yea! Now that show I thought was great! Just dropped them off, think they gave them like $300 total and not even a damn map. Didn't even tell them what country they were in. I remember there were these two guys who were convinced they were someplace literally thousands of miles from where they actually were. ;D And there was a couple and the girls flirted her way into getting them passage on a ferry one night.....wish I remembered all the details. I really liked that show. Nothing was given to them, they really had to think and use their wits. Great idea!

Is it just me or is this season not as impressive as previous ones?!? I don't seem to be enjoying it as much. I still watch it but I don't know.............. I kind of think a lot of the teams are not very interesting. For example, the gay guys this time are kind of boring..............all the other gay guys have been hillarious or are just over-all interesting people (like team Guido). There's not enough conflict or excitement going on! The teams are all kind of blah! That and it feels like this time around they haven't had to use their brain as much. I really feel like in times past it required a bit more knowledge general culture/history/geography. Sigh.........

Yeah, I agree that this time they don't have to use their brains as much this time around.
I LOVED team Guido.. they were the best!
Most of these team really bug me. Prissy Millie and her bland boyfriend, bossy Kelly and Jon.. oh and not to mention the team I can't stand, Tian and Jaree.
The clowns are who I'm rooting for, at least they seem to have fun!
I still like a little trash TV though.. I'm loving that Hotel Paradise - embarassingly enough! ;D

See I liked team Guido 'cause they were so cultured, well traveled, and in some ways much cooler than everyone else. Like, when they went to Paris and they had lived there!!! Or when everyone was stressing out lining up outside in the cold and they were at a cafe. It killed me!!!! I also liked how they spoke so many languages.............. Oh and the 2 Latino gay guys were my FAVOURITES! They were so damn polite and cool. No waiting at counters for them -- they'd just go up to the concierge at some luxury hotel and get them to buy the tickets for them. It was the best! The thing with the Hispanic gay guys is they seemed like genuinely fantastic people (more so than team Guido)! They were totally the type of people that I would be friends with!!!

I'll admit I did not watch this last season (but sounds like I missed a great show!) and find myself wondering why I am watching this year. I don't see much challenge to this, I don't much like the teams (except I was rooting for the BFG...and the clowns), I want to see folks use their brains and finagle a way to do something not fight and bicker. Everything is planned out for them, it's merely who can get from point a to b the quickest and that seems mainly to depend on not much more than dumb luck. What am I missing? Every one just raved about this show.....but I do like seeing all the sights along the way having been where they are shooting so far. Next week India...I've not been there!

Yeah, I thought they were just giving them all the info cause it was the first few shows but now I'm wondering..
The last couple years it's been OK, you need to get yourself from a city on one continent to a city on another and that's it... They had to figure out what airlines/flights to take, what to do when they got there etc.
I do like the travel aspect of it as well, though. They've been hitting a lot of big cities this year as well, rather than the smaller places which is what I like.. I like to see places I haven't been to add to my list!

They spent pretty much all of their time in Amsterdam. With a lot of that time spent getting lost in the canals.
Then they transfered eels, cheese, and dug their hands in cow dung.
Their pitstop was at some castle outside of Amsterdam.
BTW, ging I totally agree with you that they are spoon-feeding them! I feel like the teams this year haven't had to use their brains ONCE! I don't know if they're dumbing it down on purpose but I am disappointed.
As for India -- ayyyaa!! On the first season I think it was...........they went to India. WOW! That was harsh. There were kids with limbs missing coming up to them. Their cars kep on being mobbed by beggars --- usually children with physical disabilities. It was absolutely maddenning!! The team of a mother and a young daughter almost lost it..........it was way too intense!
