I saw it!
It wasn't bad................I'm not sure I like the judges though. There's 4 of them and I don't think they're as nice as the American judges. These ones laugh in the peoples faces if they feel like it -- they don't really try to hide it!
Two of them are ex-rock stars. One of them is a guy and I think he's like the "Simon" of the show. He's not the nicest guy and I can't say I agree with his taste.
The girl is okay. But again her and the other rock person (the dude) in my opinion sometimes make questionable decisions.
There's this black-guy and you can tell they have him in there to look out for the interests of the r&b hip-hop crowd. I have to say I don't particularly enjoy that type of music but he seems to be more grounded than the other judges.
And lastly they have this chubby white guy judge. I don't know what's wrong with him. There was this one person who was SO good and everyone agreed -- and he said he didn't know what they were talking about! I'm not sure I like him either.
In terms of the performances they weren't bad. I have to say though that the majority of these kids were NOT very well put together. They were a tad bit geeky and a lot of them had the country-bumpkin air to them. There were quite a few girls with hair past the shoulders.
Also, the Canadians tended to choose different songs than the ones you usually hear on AI (i.e: Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Get Here, stuff like that). I personally wasn't familiar with the songs.
I honestly have to say though that I'm not convinced they were putting through the best singers. In particular there was this girl out in BC who sang a song they deemed "country." They told her she couldn't stand out in a crowd of other people. She was just another country singer! So she wasn't chosen. Then the next girl walks in and she CAN'T sing but they think she's got star potential (she was bubbly) and they put her through!!
I don't know..........next week is the Eastern half of Canada........starting with Toronto. It will no doubt get more interesting.

Did anyone watch the second show? I liked it MUCH better than the first! I think there were a couple of people that really stood out. among them I would count the girl from Montreal who didn't speak a word of French -- she had a great voice and she was beautifull to boot! Then there was the big white guy. He was loosing his voice but when he sang -- WOW!!! He sang with so much feeling I got all chocked up. I can't wait to hear him until he is fully recuperated -- I would compare that audition to when Clay sang solitaire. It was that kind of feeling -- that point when you're surprised how good it is and no one dares say a word!

Patrick: I believe their regular time slot is 8 PM EST on Monday nights.
Last week though they repeated it again on Saturday night (at 8 I think). So maybe they'll do it this week.
Next week's episode will be devoted to the auditions in Toronto and Ottawa.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, maybe I can catch it on the weekend. I want to see the Toronto auditions. I'd bet $$ that I'll see someone I know on the show, it should be pretty funny too knowing the variety of people in this city.

If not turn it on or watch on Saturday. These kids are GREAT!
It's crazy -- they're going to have a really tough time cutting anyone!!
They're at the semi-finals and they're so much better than on AI!!!

My man Mikey didn't kill it as well as he did during his very first audition. But do I think that he'll still make it through? Hell yeah -- 'cause ANYBODY who heard this kid during his audition knows that he's amazing!!!!! My predictions for the 3 that will go through are: Mikey Bustos, Candida, and the guy with whitish blonde hair who lost his voice during the semi-finals BUT dudes these guys were really really good! In fact I think it's a pity 'cause if this was American Idol a lot of these people would be going through. On a final note -- in Toronto they are pre-empting Jeopardy to bring you the results. The geek in me is horrified!!!!
