Recently finished Dan Brown's 'The DaVinci Code' and found it a whale of a good read. Parts of it almost a travelog of Rome, Paris, and other spots, loads of 'great art' content, and a really well done 'mystery'. It also covers a good bit of religious trail, the RCC and the Holy Grail....it is a really difficult book to describe but it is a can't put down thing. Highest reccomendations! There is something in it for everyone.
What have you liked lately??

I just finished an excellent book but traded it in at the book store for some new ones.
I've been racking my brain since I first saw this post to remember the name of it!!
I think it had bride in the title and was based in India.

I read it a few years ago when it first came out. Remembered the title but not the author.....luckily I had it in hardback so it is still in my library and I could go look. ;D And while it doesn't have 'bride' in the title, it's a magor theme and it is in India, so wasn't too hard to guess it. Also, it is an excellent read.

if you liked this one by Stone, try Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett....another great 'historical' location novel....based on Cathedral of St. Denis in Paris. Another great read.

I just finished reading "Skiny legs and all" by Tom Robbins (again) A mind teasing reading with a comic twist.
I want to get my hands on a copy of that book about fast food culture in the US... I think its called Fast Food America, or something like that.

Hello!!! If anyone out there is interested in philosophy, there is an excellent book called "Sophies World" (I think the author is Jostein Gaarder...something like that!). Anyway, it is a wonderful introduction to the history of philosophy and gives some insight to Europe of the past and present!! Happy Reading!! Kirsty

I just started reading Stupid White Men by Michael Moore. The "stupid white men" of the US (aka politicians) are pretty comical to read about. While I love my country, I certainly agree that we have our issues, and since the rest of the world is laughing at George W, I figured I should too!

I just finished reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas and was thoroughly impressed. It was superbly written and I found the story captivating. I haven't seen the movie, so I didn't know much before reading it, but would highly recommend it.
Next book on tap, "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy.

Oh Ray...one of my top dozen books for sure! Just bought it for my SIL's birthday last month, he had never read it. Some of these 'older classics' are such a great read and unfortunately easily overlooked as just that...too old. Having read the book I'll wager a guess you will not be overly impressed with the latest movie version. ;D
