Have been trying to get a trip worked up since February. With my gammy/nanny duties it just never seemed to work. There was always someone gone/deployed/in school/too busy at work....someone always had a reason why 'I' could not go. Today, my daughter called, and wonder of wonders, said plan your trip, we will acoomodate 'you'! Mom about fell over, but regained my senses quickly and got on line in a jiffy. ;D I leave 15 December for Venice, return 06 January. Woooo-hoooo! I am so jazzed! Got a great airfare, $403 Atlanta to Venice, now just have to start looking for those 'holiday' accomodations. This will be the 4th year 'away' over Christmas, and while I promised I would not be gone again, it surely seems to always be the best time for me to be gone. Char says we will have a 'second' Christmas the day I get home, a first, so that will be great. Also 4th year gone on my BD...but actually I always enjoy being in some romantic foreign place on that day....hell, never know how many more I'll have. ;D Anyway....just wanted to share. Anybody have any place extraordinary in Italy I may have not seen and surely must not miss this trip?? ging

Just wanted to say, have a great time on your trip!!! Three weeks in Italy should be awesome! I can't suggest any "off beat" places to visit, as I haven't been there yet. I just added Venice to my Itinerary for next summer, and I'm really looking forward to it (2004 seems so far off though). Cheers!!!

This is great! Congrats!
I haven't been to Italy (yet!), so what can I say, but maybe you could try the less-traveled southern regions and Sicily? Or how about Sardinia?
