What was the best present you ever got for Christmas? Don't worry, it doesn't have to be sappy - material possession are quite accepted! ;D

I'll start...
Although I really suck at making them, last year I got a cappuccino / expresso maker that I really love.
(Although, I wasn't so happy with having to pay $40 for a new carafe for the thing when I dropped it on the floor months later! ;D)

For years and years I asked every year for a KitchenAid stand mixer...the big $300 monsters. And every year I got another diamond 'something'......I know, that's great and all, but I really wanted that mixer. My husband just refused, always got me jewelry and said he would never get me an 'appliance' as a gift. If I want it so badly, go buy the darn thing. Much as I coveted it, just could not justify spending that much money myself for a mixer...even though if he got it for me it was still 'our' money..but in my brain then it was a 'gift' so now I could justify that expense in my checkbook. ;D The year before he died he presented me with a beautiful diamond necklace, and a card whose sentiments I treasure still. Then he told me to be sure and look on the back of the card, where I found a little p.s. to go look in a particular closet. There sat my mixer! The fact that he got it for me, when it so went against his grain to do so makes me smile still. God, I miss him and I still love that mixer!

I swear, that just about made me cry!
And holy crap, those mixers are beautiful! I would love one. What color did you get? They have beautiful colors too, that really nice blue etc.

It's white. ;D Took me 8 years to get him to get it for me.....asking for a color would have totally killed the deal! Oh how put out he was that morning....I barely 'mentioned' a truly gorgeous necklace and just about fainted when I saw 'my mixer'!

I'm a little late on the topic...but... When I got home from my trip, all my family was at my house and the airport for a great big surprise party, that was a great gift, but not for Christmas. That night I did get a Christmas gift in advance from my dad, he had a little little box wrapped up for me.
Inside, there was a key...yup a car key! Ok, it's his ford escort that is old, but compared to my dying chevrolet sprint, his escort was a rolls royce. And at a time where I was totally poor from my trip, a "new" car was the best thing!
I cried my eyes out. I know my parents don't have much money and it really touched me that my dad gave it to me instead of selling it for a little money for his new car.
well, that's my best christmas gift!
