It really suprised me when I heard that AL Qaeda hit spain's Train systems,I didnt think they had a beef with the europeans,guess shows how wrong i was =(. Looks like nowhere is safe anymore, kinds puts a downer on my up and comming trip but I still hafta go, cant let them win. What do you guys think of it?

It's a hateful, despicable, insane thing; does not surprise me to hear it is probably Al Qaeda. I agree, Jordo, you can't let them win.

I'm not sure yet who did this particular attack, as there are indicators for ETA or Al Qaeda or both, but I'm definitely still going to Europe this summer.
Condolences to all the people of Spain.

my oldest sister, bless her heart, is now worried sick about me going to Spain. it doesn't help that i'm planning to ride an AVE train to Madrid, into Atocha.
my spanish teacher seems to think Spain will revert to an inward state - lock down, look on all foreigners as enemies. (like in Franco's time) i doubt that will happen. look at the demos they've just had for freedom and democracy!
i read that one forth of all Spain's citizens took part in the demos!
