I've got my fingers crossed this thing goes back out to sea or dies out quickly once it hits land.
We get hurricanes up here from time to time (had a doozey last year) and they aren't fun.
*hug* to everyone.

This is pretty unfair for Florida to get hit by two big hurricanes in one summer. Hope it goes as well as possible, dustoffmom, and that you aren't in her path.

Sorry to hear that Jordo. I can imagine how disappointing that is. I hope you get to go soon. And I hope the hurricane stays away from you after all.

Thanks WT and David.......keeping fingers crossed. Initially it looked headed dead on for us, then tracks had it much further south, now it's apparently 'bobbled' northward again and warnings have gone up for JAX. Appears regardless where it makes landfall I am due for some serious rain! Car is packed and if it does indeed seem to center more on us then the Lizard and I are off to my son's in Atlanta. Sheesh......Jacksonville is reputed to be 'hurricane proof' but you couldn't prove it by me the past couple of weeks.

Really Ging our thoughts are with you and hopefully you won't have to evacuate or else that the damage won't be to bad. Really you guys aren't having it easy this summer. So hopefully everything will die down quickly.

Ging, I heard on the news this morning that the storm has been "downgraded" to a level 2 or something. Looks like you won't have to make that trip to Atlanta after all!
Good luck and I hope you're all OK down there!

Ging, are you ever going to get a break??? I hear "Ivan" is headed into the area now. Maybe a trip to Atlanta would be a good idea after all.
Good luck! Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Well, that is surely something I'd care not to do again....although we got off much 'easier' here than further south! Honestly, I can't describe how 60+ MPH winds sound and that is not even full hurricane strength. Let alone what 9 inches of rain does to the yard! Lost power yesterday about 1400 and was off till about 0800 this morning...a most hot and uncomfortable night but a safe one. Damage....loads of limbs down all around, 21 of 25 sections of fence blown down (my adjoining neighbors, not mine thank heavens) but my back french patio doors leaked like a sieve and my living room carpet postiively splashes now for about 4' around it. Will have to replace door and at least that rooms carpeting. Fat chance finding someone who can do that work prior to Ivan's arrival! At the moment I am not loving Florida! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts...could have been so much worse. We have a member who lives down toward Orlando but it escapes just who it is....darn, Kim would remember....but whoever, hoping he checks in soon and lets us know he is okay!
Oh, and thanks again to Jennifer for keeping an eye on things while I have been busy trying to stay afloat!

Ging, you know it's always a pleasure! I'm glad you're safe, it's too bad for the door and carpet, but when you think of it, it's only material and you're alive and kicking, so, what's a carpet compared to that huh? I guess it's hard to see it that way when you're actually in the situation, it must be terrifying. My heart goes out to those who chose Florida as a living spot, you've got to be brave! xoxoo Jen

;D Jacksonville is reputed to be 'hurricane proof'! Only one has hit here before this year in like 100 years. I am jinxed!
