Well I fly to Paris next Sunday. Yeah!!! It's funny the little things that try to stress us out before we leave. Not only are the Eiffel tower workers on strike, but I am flying with United and they just filed Chapter 11 (bankruptcy protection). Oh well, I will still have a great trip no matter what.

Wow - you must be getting so excited! I usually have a mental breakdown about a week or so before we leave for a long trip so don't worry, you aren't alone if you are stressed! ;D
Make sure to take lots of pictures and we'd love a Just Back Report when you get home!
What are your exact leaving and coming home dates? I don't think we have them on the calendar.

We (my boyfriend and I) leave Sept 26 and come back Oct 3. A really quick trip, but it's better than not going at all (it's all we could coordinate with our work schedules). I've been to Paris before and speak French so that should help. We are also going to try to see Mont St Michel. It looks pretty cool. Anyone been before?

Mont St Michel is a fair bit from Paris. To see it you'll probably need to hire a car and ideally spend the night somewhere like St Malo (it's got this great walled town- definitely worth seeing if you're in that part of France), before returning to Paris the next day.

I was in Mont St-Michel in July and it is absolutely spectacular. I agree with MuvverRussia about St-Malo, too. It was a very pretty town and worth spending some time in. But it is also about 1 hour 15 minutes by bus to Mont St-Michel.
If you want to take a train in from Paris, there is a town right outside Mont St-Michel that has a train station, but I forgot the name. I think it's something like Ponsoron. From there, you can get a easy bus to Mont St-Michel. I have some pictures from here that I will be sending to Kim soon to put in the album.
Have a good trip!

Thanks everyone! Right now we are intending on spending the night either in Genets or Granville. There is a neat walk across the beach that I saw on Lonely Planet ages ago that leaves and returns to Genets, and there are HI hostels almost everywhere in that area of France. (beach walk details are at http://www.cheminsdelabaie.fr). So that's the plan so far, but I still have a couple of days to change my mind. For our last full day we were going to daytrip to Beaune from Paris (I know it's like 3hrs by train one way ) for some wine tasting and such. Anyone been there? A lot to pack into a week but we can always just relax on our last day if we are too worn out.

Ray's gorgeous pictures are now up - including 3 of Mont St-Michel. Check them out by clicking on Our Photo Gallery above and going to the France section.
The fireworks ones are amazing, Ray!
