When I'm too old to travel.....

There will be no nursing home in my future.........

When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship. The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for :

1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.

2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service (which means breakfast in bed every day of the week).

3. Princess ships have as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows every night.

4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.

5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.

6. I will get to meet new people every 7 or 14 days.

7. TV broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience.

8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.

9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want to go? Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship.

P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no charge.

Sounds great, especially #8 .

I read a while ago about some sort of scheme where you could buy the equivalent of a condo on a cruise ship. It made all sorts of voyages. I'm not sure if that scheme is available still.

I have a friend whose daughter is a harpist on a cruise ship. She's been able to travel to all sorts of places.

Don't sell yourself short with Princess Cruises! WT, I know exactly what you mean about condos on a boat. I was fortunate enough to get to go on one this past summer. Though I only stayed for two weeks as a guest, most people on the boat live there (and hop on and off whenever they choose). The boat makes one trip around the globe per year, and the residents on the boat have a destination committee to work with the ship and decide which ports to stop at. Last Christmas the boat even went to Antarctica. The great thing that the boat stops for 3-5 days at a time, giving you time to actually see the places you stop at.

Being on the boat was incredible, and I could definitely retire on it! Everything was first class, and since it is not a normal cruise ship, many times you can walk around and feel like you are the only one on board. When I was there, there were probably between 800-1000 crew, and only 200-250 passengers. Talk about service!

Unfortunately, the boat carries quite a steep price tag, but let me assure you the rooms are absolutely incredible! The name of the boat was called The World, and you can check it out here:

Although it's good in theory, Residensea has received some absolutely appauling reviews and a lot of negative press in the UK, with people even mentioning near mutinies.

Did a little research after Muvvers post....YIKES! Not only does one have to have the 1.5-7 million to pony up to buy your condo...they won't even look at your application lest you have minimum 5m in assets. Much too tony a crowd for the likes of me. But great idea in theory.
