Hey Kim, any idea when the chat room will be up? It'd be fun to talk to some people here! ;D

Let me barge in here and say that the chat room idea is a bit costly....ie not included in the overall site costs. Kim set it up months ago for a trial and except for she and I meeting up in there every great while there was no usage on a daily/weekly basis. It quickly became cost inefficient to keep paying for it. There are some significant costs to Kim to keep this site up and running and she decided to let this one go for now. But I am sure if there was now enough interest she may consider re-opening it......but again, it's sort of a dollar and cents issue ya know. I pay the fees for the travel album....mainly coz I love seeing everyone's pictures...but all the other costs are borne by Kim alone. And I say again...it's not cheap. Which is why she often requests you book your hostels/tours/passes etc through the site. It costs not one cent more to you, but garners her a small commission which helps keep her out of pocket costs down. sorry......just had to add my .02 to this.

Cost as in bandwidth usage? Or cost as in the software? If it's software you need, I've got a freeware java-chat around here someplace from when I used to program websites...

More so software - it was hosted and designed by a company but personalized for us. It was a yearly thing that ended up being way too expensive for the amount people used it. I don't know Java but if you can figure it out for me and others are into it, that's cool with me! We used to try to do scheduled chats as well which seemed to work in the beginning but in the off season sort of died off. Maybe it's time to give it another shot. Like I always say, whatever you guys want, you get! Kim

Even when we had scheduled chats, I think we only had around 5 people max at any time. It's definitely not worth it IMO. It's nice to have available, but for the amount it's used you're probably better off just using messenger.
I'm a member on another site with 10,000+ members and the chat option is never used, always empty. If people want to talk, they just use the boards.

That is true Patrick - and there is a space in peoples profile to add their Messenger name if anyone wants to be able to contact others like that.

exactly so....I am on MSN messenger and it's listed in my profile.....I've never been contacted by anyone here. Like has been said...the chat room just was not used so why pay for it?
It's all too easy to think about some 'corporation' that pays to maintain this site. However, fact is it is Kim's own checkbook that keeps it up and running for us to enjoy.

Well, i'd say Kim does a lot for us, and I must say in fact it sure must cost a fortune, cause not only does she gives us great service, great prizes but she pays to send to prizes out, and that alone must be expensive. The site probably also is.
If there is anything I can help out with even if I can't do much, let me know!
Until then I saw we could just add everyone to our msn list and when people are online, we just group-talk!
xoxo Jen
