So I finally get to go on a trip!! After almost 2 years of being trip-free (other than within Ontario) I FINALLY get to go somewhere!! Here's my story. Mat (my bf) & I were planning a tropical trip for March-ish 2006. We were just hoping to do a last-minute to get a good price & were going crazy looking forward to it. So 2 weeks ago my Mom calls the salon I work at & tells me to ask my boss if I can have a week off in January. She's just as confused as I am, but says that I can. Then my Mom goes on to tell me that my parents were talking & they think that Mat & I deserve a break sooner than that (Mats working on building up his business he started in Sept. & I'm working on developing a client-base at my salon) & as our Christmas gifts they'd like to send us on a tropical trip in January... if that's okay with us. Well of course it is!! So now I get to happily check itravel2000.com everyday checking for deals & looking forward to a trip that's not too far away to think about!! Only downside is trying to avoid all the yummy hokiday treats coming up in order to avoid looking like a "Moo" on the beach Hooray for the sun!!!!

Well, SoFla in January is always nice... ;D Really though, if you do fly through here on your way to somewhere else (either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami Airports) and have a layover, lemme know! I'll come do lunch with you! Edited to add: BTW, the only BIG thing my parents ever got for me was a TV, and that was only for my divorce! Lucky girl with her travel-loving parents!

Yeah I'm extremely excited!! I think they felt bad for the fact that I don't really get any time off for Christmas (I work Christmas Eve AND Boxing Day - oh the joys) Since salon's aren't very busy in January it was no problem for me to get a week off (plus I may be giving my notice at this particular salon after the new year, but that's a whole different story) If I could only leave on Thursday. I just found an all-inclusive 4.5 star resort in Cuba for 500 TAX-IN!!!! Nah, then I'd miss my sister who's leaving for South Korea next week.
Sorry about the somewhat reambling there, working all weekend will do that to you!

Jamaica is sounding really nice right now. My parents are going next weekend to Jamaica so I'll have to get their opinion. I've only been to Mexico a few times (Puerto Vallarta everytime) so any other tropical destination would be nice! Anyone have any recommendations?

isn't Marie going to Dominican Republic over semester break? perhaps she can advise if that might be a good place.
have long heard that DR has a marvelous Tropical/Afro-Caribbean music scene!
