My plans for Backpacking in Europe this spring have unfortunately come to a "grinding halt", due to a severe leg injury that I suffered just before Christmas. Surgery to repair this was completed just before New Year's (spending New Year's Eve in Hospital wasn't much fun!) and hopefully there won't be too many lasting effects? However full recovery could take up to six months.
Hopefully I'll be ready to go in the Fall!

Well I already knew this Eagle but you are still in my thoughts! I'm sure you'll have a quick recovery since you have an incentive to get better

Aw! I am so sorry to hear that Eagle. I hope you are not in too much pain and the recovery goes smoothly. Europe has been here for some millenia, I am sure it will keep until this fall too.

I'm sorry, Eagle. Hope the pain is not too bad, and I hope you recover as quickly as possible. Are you on an exercise and rehabilitation regimen?

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. The pain is quite manageable at the moment, but I have Tylenol 3 if I need it. I haven't started Physio yet, but will find out more about that on the 18th when I go for my first post-surgery visit. For now my leg is locked in a rigid splint and I'm using Crutches to get around.
I just hope the recovery is effective, so that I can Backpack without worrying about any further problems from the injury (the Orthopaedic Surgeon did say that there's a small chance of "re-rupture").
Oh well, at least I've got an excuse to sit in front of the TV and watch travel shows!

Stanncie, I'm trying to use the Tylenol 3 sparingly (given the "side effects"), as the pain is minimal at the moment. The pain was MUCH more severe the first 18 hours or so after surgery, and even Morphine wasn't helping much.
Hopefully it's healing as it should?

Ugh, that sounds terrible, Eagle! And what a bad time of year to have that happen!
Hopefully you recover quickly! I use T3's for migranes and I tell ya, I have the best sleep when I take them! (Well, did have the best sleep - can't sleep that deeply with the rug rat now!)

Yuck, sorry to hear about your little "boo boo". At least you have an excuse for people to tend to you while you can sit around & heal. You're being told to slow down with this injury, so as much as it sucks take this time to relax and get as much rest as you can T3's huh... I take Fiorinal for migraines & they give you that lovely sleep too! Must be the codeine mixed with the butalbital. Do T3s have butalbital in them?
