hi, i tried to set up this hostelworld partner program a few week ago for my own site, but couldn't get a response from support - so i posted my question at digitalpoint . now someone complains that they charged them almost 30$ extra fees for 5 bookings (on top of the booking fee). can anyone confirm this or is it just a kind of accident with the booking system? should i still use hostelworld (i am already disappointed because i don't get any response from hostelworld support) or what are my alternatives? the only other hostel affiliate program i found is only about European hostels - not exactly what i need.

I'd say it's an accident. I've used hostelworld.com exclusively on all my trips and have only had one problem when a hostel closed. Both the hostel owner and hostelworld contacted me and resolved the issue pretty well though . I'd be interested to see what kind of market share Hostelworld have, as I can't really think of many competitors out there. I'd guess it's worth sticking with them.

Hey, what are you doing booking through your own site, you are supposed to book through here! This is from Hostelworld: When you book on Hostelworld, through our online credit card processing company, we take a 10% deposit (downpayment) for your reservation plus a US$2.00 booking fee. This amount will not be refunded to you on arrival at the hostel. The balance of 90% of your accommodation cost as shown on your booking confirmation is due on arrival at the hostel. All charges from Hostelworld will be in US$. Maybe they are confused in regards to the deposit? Personally, I like the Hostelworld program. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to keep GFE up and running.

Yeah, that would make sense. Depending on what the bookings are the total cost could easily run to the high $200s, so $30 seems about right.

Hello I also, wanted to add hostelworld.com to my affiliate program, but I dont know if they have any hinded fees or cost, when I try to send them an email, there was no contact email for affiliates. I'm also worried because I entered my information for signing up with their Affiliate Program but when I've read their contract they did not detail any fees so I closed the window. I would like to know if anyone had or is having problems using Hostelworld.com Affiliate program, or what are other people experiance when using them. Thank you
