I Used something similar the first time I went tot he UK. It was heaps useful, especially as I didn't have a credit card at the time.
My only problem was I knew how much Australian money I had on it, and was withdrawing from the account, but at some places couldn't get an account balance in any kind of money, so wasn't able to gauge how much money I had actually spent.
