Heya, welcome to the board! First, check out the main page. There's more to guideforeurope.com than this messageboard! ;D General agreement around here is to bring about $75-$100 (American) a day. Obviously, the more you have the better. That should cover your food, hostel, and various other things through your day. If all your going to hit is London (pretty damn expensive) and France, You'll need both Pounds (London) and Euros (France) (though I could be wrong, Muvver?) BTW, where are you from? It'll help us help you better.

Again, welcome to the Board! As Doug mentioned, it would be a big help to know a bit more about you, such as where you're from. Also, since this is your first trip, you might want some comments on your Itinerary also.
You'll find a friendly and helpful bunch here, so if you have any questions let us know.
Cheers!!!

Doug's right - the UK still uses GBP whilst France use the Euro.
US$100 a day is about right for London as well, although more is always good (depending on when you go, your accommodation etc). London's extremely expensive, and the strength of the pound against the dollar really doesn't help.
For France you'll get by with slightly less (I wouldn't deviate much from US$100/day though, especially in Paris or the French Riviera).

Thanks for the reply guys.....=)
I'm from Manila, Philippines. And me and my friends ( group of 5) are planning a trip next year. Depending on the best time to go there. Probably April or may? And now we are palnning for our budget and what route to take. The France to London route seemed nice to do. But if there is a better suggestion from you guys it will be much appreciated. =)

i've always felt that taking cash with you on a trip is a mistake. too dangerous! i'm an old guy, i used to take travelers checks. <you may not have ever even heard of those > these days, ATM's are cheaper and safer - but try to have 2 of them, in case one is lost or can't be used. - d
