My gf and I are going to Europe in Sept for 22 days. We are planning on bringing $6 - $7000 cdn between the both of us. Will this be enough funds for food, lodging etc? We will have our rail passes and flights paid for.

On the low end that is $3000 each, with your rail and flights paid for.
The general rule is $100 per day, so you'll need $2200 for your lodging (assuming you're not staying in really expensive places, in which case you'll need a little more), food, sightseeing, etc. That leaves you with about $800 for whatever or to just save for when you get back. Looks like you've planned your budget well.

liquidt, that should be enough for a 22 days, although it might be an idea to take a credit card along in case you encounter some unexpected expenses.
As spymoose indicated, the general "rule of thumb" is about $100.00 per day for food, lodging and incidentals. Keep in mind that this rule is normally expressed in U.S. dollars. It should be somewhat of an advantage for two travelling together, as this can provide some cost savings. For example, if you stay in Hostels, you'll be paying on a "per bed" basis; however if you stay at a budget Hotel, you'll be paying on a "per room" basis, which might be slightly less expensive.
You're fortunate that your flights and rail passes are paid for. How do I get a deal like that!
You didn't specify which method you would be using for funding your trip (ATM's, Travellers Cheques, etc.). One suggestion, it's a good idea to split your funds between different sources, as if something unexpected happens (ie: ATM machine "eats" your card), then you have a backup. Also, if using an ATM it's a good idea to have your funds in a chequing account, with a four number PIN (I found that out several years ago when my Son began travelling). I discovered this week that the same situation still exists, when I enquired about using ATM's when travelling at one of our local Credit Unions.
Good luck and happy travels!!!
