hey guys, well I didn't think I'd be able to pull off Europe this summer but it may be possible afterall ;D Last time I checked the budget to aim for was $100 Canadian per day, is this still correct? (travel would be in August I believe, mostly central Europe)
Thanks

less than €67 per day is a mighty thin budget. it might be better to make it a shorter trip, or wait until you have more money.
€100 a day is more like it, especially in the West. (€67 might do it in *some* parts of South or East)

Ah I'd always heard $100/d roughly was fine and $85ish American. What number is Euros is comfortable? Should I be aiming closer to $100 USD? (roughly $110-115 CDN which is 75 Euro)
(ie. pack lunch but have a pub type meal most nights, see a few sights per city, no splurges on partying)

a good way to save is eat out at lunch, when prices are lower, and eat the self catered meal at the hostel for dinner. you can even make those dinners a social thing. there were several occasions in my travels when i would go to the store and split the bill with other travellers, we'd cook at the hostel kitchen.

100 Euro a day you say? Never heard it being that high actually. I'll be in BEL, GER, POL, CZE, HUN and AUS. I guess I'll have to consider if it's possible then as I definitely hadn't heard of it being 100 Euro per day. Thanks though.

Be, De & At will cost more than Eastern countries. it'll prolly cost you close to €100 a day in big cities there. smaller towns, Pl, Cz & Hu will be less. but, "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." 100 Euro a day you say? Never heard it being that high actually. I'll be in BEL, GER, POL, CZE, HUN and AUS. I guess I'll have to consider if it's possible then as I definitely hadn't heard of it being 100 Euro per day. I have not read what you have to do, with these 67 euros. If you need to buy tickets and rooms on this budget, it is very low.

Oops, probably should have been more clear. The money I'm talking about excludes trains and airfare - so would simply cover accomodations, food, attractions, etc.

I guess it should cover it. Let's say a room (dorm), would cost 20 euro, meals set you back 15-25 euros. (if you can cook at the hostel, it can save you a lot) Other travellers and the staff will likely be able to recommend some places, that are good, and yet cheap.
With 35-45 euros spend, you have money left to spend on drinks, attractions etc ...
If you need to cover expenses for your daytrips, you may want to search for information, on entrance-tickets, prices for tours, train/bus to get there ... before you leave. So you have some clue on how much it will cost. I would also recommend to have some money you can access (in your bankaccount) for unpredictabilities.
I think I have been a little bit conservative, so you should
