Hola This might be redundant to some people, but I have heard that accomodations in Venice are expensive and rather scarce(most say there is only 2 hostels in town)
So, my question is, how much of this is true? and what is consider expensive/cheap for Venice, as far as rooms?
I don't to make reservations if I can avoided, since I don't want to have a deadline, so for those who know, could I just wing it?
I will be in Venice around dec 18th just in case it matters when I will be there.
Thanx a bunch!

Hola my freind,
Ok, i was in venice at the end of october and my first peice of advice is BOOK AHEAD! If i hadnt booked ahead i would have spent the night at the train station, not fun! Venice is busy all year round and accomodation is scarse, give yourself the best possible chance and book ahead. Book for 1 night and that gives you the luxuary to move on or to stay for longer. I stayed at the Hostel Santa Fosca, 18 euros per night for a dorm, very clean spacious rooms. If you dont want to book ahead, arrive very early, before 9am if you can, the hostel keeps some beds for people who dont book. I have no other names of other hostels, sorry, hope this is of help, and by the way, its an amazing city! Enjoy.

hey, Thanx for the tip. I did as you suggested and stayed at Santa Fosca. I got a bed without prior reservation and for what I noticed, they were very helpful towards the other unlucky ones who didn't get a bed there.
Again, thanx for the tip.

That sounds like it might be a good place to stay. Do you have the contact info by any chance? I didn't see it on this site's italy hostels.
Thanks for the help!
