Hey Guys, I'm going to begin a three-four month backpacking adventure through Europe early next month in London. Does anyone have any recomendations for hostels in London proper? If it matters, Im a 26 year old male traveling single! Any reviews on Astor Hyde Park, or the International Student House? Any words of advice/warning for a first time Hostel visit?

Agreed St Christophers is a good bet, they have beds at only £10 till end Feb (last year's prices). Int Stud House is comfortable and more relaxed. Astors are casual and smoky. For comments on others, have a look on the forum on my site. Peter www.uktrail.com

I will go ahead and put in a third nomination for the St. Christopher's chain. Excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. Not too expensive either. I stayed at the Village hostel, which is right close by to Soho, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, and even Buckingham. All are a short Tube ride away. And of course, they have Belushi's just in case you ever feel like a night cap after a full day of wandering about London. Got any more questions? Let me know.
