looking for good and cheap Italy hotels

My wife and I will be going to Rome, Florence and
Venice in mid May. Were looking for inexpensive hotels or B&B.   Any suggestions would be helpful.

First, Venice is extremely expensive-you don't get much for your money.

The rooms are plain (no TV etc.) but very clean-we opted for the cheaper route of sharing a bathroom and it was fine. Walking distance to everything. This is probably the best deal you will find in Venice. We paid about $50 US ($77 CND) but I'm sure it's gone up a bit. You might be looking at $75 US for budget accommodation, even possibly $100 US for May.
