miriam,
in rome, try staying at the Guliver's House hostel....we had such a great experience....they take great care of you, and make sure you have the best visit to rome...they give you a map and mark all the great places to visit, and places that you might not have thought to visit....i cannot say enough good things about this place....they do have curfew, but even that is negotiable....great neighborhood, fairly near the coloseaum (maybe a 5-10 minute walk....)
barcelona, we stayed at the Gothic point hostel...big, but modern conveniences....nice bunk beds, bathrooms, free internet...we met great people here and had an awesome time.... ...in florence, we had reservations with a hostel, but they um, decided to give our reservation away,....after we got over our frustration and anger with this place....we walked down the street to another hostel, and on the way, a nice man and his wife offered us a place to stay in their apartments that they rent out....only about 30 dollars a nite.....i dont have the information about this place right now (im at work) but there are alot of little places like that who rent out rooms......i'll see what info i can find for ya.....emikachica@hotmail.com email me if you ahve any questions...

This link will take you right to their reservation page: www.the-beehive.com/reservation.htmlThe main site is at: www.the-beehive.comAll renovations are done at the new location and they now have free internet, no lockout or curfew, a garden etc. Extremely nice couple-make sure to say hi to them for me when you go!
