Check reviews here: www.bugeurope.com/IIRC, there are 2 good hostels in Madrid. You are looking for HOSTEL, not HOSTAL, aren't you? |

Though more of a budget hotel than a hostel, I have stayed at the Hostal Madrid on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Pricey, though, but great location. www.hostal-madrid.com/Another one on the same street is Hostal Esparteros. I have never stayed here, but it looks fine and might be a bit cheaper.
