Alright well I'm starting to panick! Every hostel I try to book seems to either be full or only have quad private rooms. My friend and I arrive in Rome on June 5th and wanted to make a reservation for our first nights there possibly with a private for the very first night but everything cheap and decent seems to have no availability.
I tried Beehive, Gulliver's, Pop Inn, Red Cheeks, Papa Germano's and a few others I can't think of. I was thinking we could just wing it for the rest of Italy, but I'm starting to have doubts now!!
Any suggestions anyone can give me, please, I'm getting desperate!!

In lots of places I've tried (not in Rome), private rooms are booked up many months in advance. Are you willing to consider dorm beds?
Maybe for your first night, it would be worth it to spring for a cheap hotel? The one thing I disliked about hostels was coming in very late at night and having to move as stealthily as possible in a dark room and into bed. So for the first night, a hotel might be worth it. I'd suggest Priceline, but I don't know how good the rates are for Rome, although it's quite possible to get a good deal. Check out TravelAxe and all the usual sources.

OK, here's what you do.. Go here: reservations.bookhostels.com/guideforeurope.com/index.phpChoose Italy and Rome then put in your dates. It will bring up what is available. There is tons available for your dates, both in private rooms and dormitories so don't worry. Oh, and if you make a booking, don't forget to enter to win one of 3 travel towels! Kim

Well I've been doing my research and wanted to know if anyone has stayed at these places :
- Starlight Hostel - Hotel Mari - Yellow Hostel - Hostel Pink Floyd
I have already checked the review page on this site, but they don't all have comments! I'll make sure to add my own reviews when I come back because I find that page very helpful.

There are 3 reviews for the Yellow Hostel: members.shaw.ca/gfe/yellowhostelreviews.htmlReviews I found for Hostel Starlight on BUG: 4/5 It hardly qualifies as a hostel..extremely cramped space, no common area, and the employee sleeps behind a curtain in the kitchen! But the value was EXCELLENT for Rome. We got the large, comfortable, private room complete with tv for 25 Euros (two people) in January. If you're a couple, don't bother with the expensive HI's, just call up Hostel Star Light to get that room. 4/5 This was the very first hostel I have stayed in. The location is great, just a couple of blocks from Termini (train station). The bathrooms are very clean (cleaned every day) as are the rooms. There is no common area, but you are allowed to use the kitchen. The room I stayed in had a fridge, which was really handy. The grocery store at the train station is very handy as well. I would recommend this hostel. 3/5 When arriving in rome, sometimes is hard to find a place to stay. This hostel is quite near from the central station and was the only one that has a bed avaliable. The room is clean, the bathroom also. but besides a couple of computers with internet access there is absolutly nothing to do. so if you go there prepare yourself to stay all of your time out of the place. Pink Floyd is pretty new on the hostel scene, which is why it probably doesn't have many reviews. Looks nice on their webpage though! Can't find any for Hotel Mari either. We would love it if you would add your hostel reviews, when you get back. That's pretty much how guideforeurope.com started, I started a page when we got back with reviews of where we stayed (I had written reviews in my journal for each one!) If it were me, I would either go with the Yellow Hostel due the positive reviews of it being a decent hostel or try out the Pink Floyd Hostel cause it looks really nice. Kim
