Florence - walk-in availability

What are my chances of finding a bed in a dorm in all of Florence next week? I have no credit card so I cant book.

Worst case scenario: should I stay in a small, close town, go into Florence and pre-pay for the following nights I want to stay?

The old method of calling by phone is still working in many hostels... try it!
If you show up in the morning on a weekday in early June, I believe you'll find a hostel bed...
