I have tried many of Hostels in Western and Eastern Europe that I would like ot stay at. I'll be in Western Europe early Sept, late Sept, then in the south for the month of October. The problem is that I can't seem to get any reservations. I know there are some that don't take reservations, others say call two days in advance or such. I would like to get at least a few reservations in advance for sake of mind. But is this common. Also do Hostels keep opening for online reservations, and some for call aheads. Thanks for anything.

Did you try the hostel booking link from this site? That's strange that you haven't been able to succeed - what cities have you been trying?

We tried all the cities that we are staying in. In Paris we found the BVJ Louve, we can get in here for the first nights that we are in Europe, although a bit more than bit more thatn we wanted to pay. We got the Boathouse in Prague, but from then on no luck. We wanted to stay at The4U in Munich, during Oktoberfest but to no avail. I know this is a going to be hard to find in Munich during that time. In Rome we tried Gullivers House, and the Pensione Ottaviano, also with no luck. There are more that we could get that we online availabilty checks, the ones above we the Hostels that emailed us back. I used your site, in conjunction with the bug site, and my lets'go guide book, maybe I'll just give your site a whirl alone. Thanks.

It's going to be tough getting any type of Oktoberfest accommodation in Munich at this point, never mind anything budget. It's booked a year in advance in some places. Your best best is to stay in a neighbouring town. Will - thanks for mentioning the hostel booking on this site! Kim

ewallartist- I was talking to one of the guys that runs the 4U on wednesday (I was there from Sunday to Thursday- it's a pretty good place) and he said that they still had beds available for this year's oktoberfest (€19.50 for a bed in a 12 bed dorm)although that might be for walk ins only.
