I'm trying to find a farmhouse to stay in while in Tuscany, but the only places I can find are for large groups and the rates are by the week only. I only want to stay for a day or two and I'll be by myself. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a good place?

This site lists a lot of places, and has lots of useful advice for agriturismo holidays: www.slowtrav.comThe Rick Steves board mentions some agriturismos also.

Kim, I take it you haven't stayed at the one you suggested? Has anyone here? I checked out their website, and it says they have cooking classes. I was wondering if anyone had taken any? I am interested in doing a few cooking classes in Tuscany and France (not picky on the area) so if anyone has any info!

Thank you all for the input. I actually booked a room at the Certaldo place and it looks awesome! It has everything I was looking for (plus the added bonus of cooking classes and their own wine cellar).

Just an update for everyone about the place in Certaldo. I stayed there for 2 days and wish I could have been there for another week! It was absolutely incredible and a perfect place to relax but also take day trips around Tuscany. It's called Fattoria Bassetto and I would recommend it to anyone interested.

GoJoel, did you have a car when you stayed here? Would it be possible without?

I emailed them about the cooking classes, this was their response: "We run cooking classes on demand, a minimum of 5 people. It is held up at a local vine yard, it goes for 3-4 hours cost is 25 euro you get to eat what you cook, antipasta, main and desert also wine and water included"

I think 25 Euros is very reasonable for a cooking class that lasts 3 - 4 hours. I'd definately pay that to have the experience of learning to cook something in a local vineyard in Italy. That's an experience of a lifetime. You have to do it, Skye! Oh and we want pictures of it too.. Kim

Kim...would you please contact gojoel and MAKE him come back here and give us more details!!! ;D
Hell, I'd easily pay 50 for a 3-4 hour cooking class with eats afterwards. 25 is quite cheap I think!
