Hello, After learning the hard way that I need to prebook hostels in peak season, I am hoping someone can help me with these 2 cities. I am looking for a hostel with a good location, a party atmosphere and preferably a kitchen. Hopefully some of you have stayed or heard about cool hostels here. Thanks

I stayed at hostels in both cities this summer. In Prague I stayed at Sir Toby's and it was the second best hostel I stayed in the whole trip (behind Mitte Backpacker Hostel in Berlin) and this along with the Berlin one were way above the rest. Sir Toby's has almost a country feel in the rooms, and has a bar in the basement where everyone meets up before heading out. (Real good local czech beer for less than $1 US).
In Krakow I stayed at the Stranger Hostel. It was a great social scene, but the room I was in was extremely stuffed, and stunk like people, and I think it got me sick. I woke up the next morning with a sore throat and feeling really out of it. But for the social scene it was great. Good people there too. If I went back I'd look elsewhere in Krakow though. Sir Toby's on the other hand I highly recommend. Hope this was a help

For Prague it's hard to beat the Hostel Elf. They have a huge party atmosphere (mass trips to clubs, guided city tours etc), a cheap 24hr bar, good location (right by the bus station) and a pretty good kitchen.
For Kraków I've heard good things about Mama's hostel. It's centrally located and seems to meet all of your other criteria.

I stayed at The Boathouse Hostel in Prague... and it was awesome. No kitchen, but they cook inexpensive home-cooked dinners, they have a snack bar & beer and such, and the breakfast included in the price is great. They serve it late enough that it could almost be lunch. Part of the hostel certainly included a party atmostphere, but it was also quiet enough that you could get sleep if you wanted to. I had first looked into Sir Toby's but they didn't have any rooms open for the time I was going to be in Prague.
