Hello from Siena
Sorry I haven't sent anything before this, but having trouble finding someplace to send.
Where shall I start? Naples. You either hate or love Naples. I hated it. The one thing I went to Naples to see was closed (the archaeological museum). The hostel was up a STEEP hill (is everything in Italy uphill?), the train station was creepy, and I couldn't access the Internet or find a phone that worked. Plus, my big indicator of a place, there was no toilet paper in the city of Naples. The view from the hostel was breathtaking, tho.
Next , ruins day at Paestum and Pompeii. Absolutely breathtaking. Night before last I stayed at the hostel in Cortona. This was a great hostel. Big, clean rooms with a view. Nice showers (lousy pressure, tho.), and a place to hang laundry! Ran into the first problem getting something to eat. All the restaurants were "full", when I aked for a table for one. OK, went back to the hostel and had a great meal.
Now, Siena. What a beautiful town. Came here without reservations; Every place I tried was full (on a Monday), so a lady at a hotel gave me the name of a lady that rents rooms. She doesn't speak English, and I don't speak Italian, so we had a good time figuring everything!
