that is clever! the site shows an area map of showers <at the nearby public swimming pool>, public toilets and cafés. the text also sez these three cylinders, each with foam double-mattress inside, include power <220 volts> and internet connection as well as a combination lock. the reservations page shows options for one, two or thee night reservations. [they send the door lock combination with confirmed reservations] the word used for the "hole" in the top is Dachfenster, which translates to skylight, implying there is glass there to keep out the unwanted things you list. it also lists availability as July to October. so, i'm guessing these cylinders aren't well enough heated for winter use. - d The intent is great, but the open hole in the top of the cylinder raises the question of how to keep out unwanted intruders (human and animal), rain, and bugs ...

Is it realistic to say to use the bathrooms in museums for late-night/early-morning use? Even if you have shared facilities, any hostel has indoor, in-house bathrooms. I don't know that I would feel safe, unless they have 24-hour security.

Also, wouldn't this sort of thing quickly turn into a homeless shelter? Not that that's a bad thing, it's just there's a difference between a shelter and a hostel.
I'm with WT on the safety aspect, as a female traveller I'd be creeped out!!
