I need to know where you have stayed in london - not too expensive, not too party but FUN, close to sights if possible - going to be there for 3 nights may 2-5
thanks, ~michelle~

ok - so now that I've figured out that all the london hostels deal in pounds, I have decided to probably go with the astor museum inn - it's less expensive than the globetrotter and it seems nice. Has anyone stayed the the astor chain of hostels before?

Hi michelle Just stayed in the museum last weekend, to be honest i didnt see much of it, was on a bit of a drinking weekend. However it will look after all your needs id imagine. I didnt socialise there or see the kitchen so can't really comment on those aspects of it. The rooms are clean and warm tho. Do be aware though that its split into two different buildings, one with the kitchen, living room, reception and some rooms obviously, but the other building is about 100 meters down the road and is just rooms. It is very central, 10 min walk to tottenham court rd, covent garden, soho, leicester square etc. I had a good time anyway! I think.

The Generator had a good location, if you had a Tube pass every day. a problem for me were all the German early teen kids running around. the chaperons, talked to them in the downstairs bar, were nice enough. but sharing a dorm room with those young boys was pretty bad. Try the generator hostel. Its clean, fun and central.

On another board, someone seems to really like the high-quality facilities at the YHA St. Pancras, which also serves a full breakfast. Apparently Hostelworld bookings can make it pretty cheap. Still, I don't know if it would exactly be a "fun" hostel. This hostel is also near the Generator.
Last trip, I stayed in the area near the Generator and YHA St. Pancras. I thought it was pretty convenient for central London, and it's good for visiting Camden Market and Islington areas, both of which have cheap food and cool shopping if you're into that, and it's also good for Bloomsbury-area attractions, and Piccadilly and Mayfair are only a short tube ride away.
