we've finally decided on the dates and places we wanted to visit but the good hostels in paris are either too expensive or don't have any more rooms. now we're scrambling to find some decent to stay there. ARGH!! arranging travels are frustrating. hope others are having better luck...

Did you try phoning them directly or going through the hostel's own site? The Hostelworld site does not necessarily list all of the inventory that the hostel has - in fact, it usually doesn't.
Just recently, I discovered this to be the case for Edinburgh, and I was forced to book through the hostel site, which required full prepayment. But oh well, I'll have to pay eventually.
I think I had to prepay because I'm going at a super-busy time in Edinburgh, but in general you won't have to, particularly in Paris.

Hello! Ive just been in Paris and if you are two, you should check out double rooms at Hotel Boissieres or Kyriad Italie Gobelins, I found them through hostelworld and they were no more than 24 euros each per night, which is the same price as a hostel anyways in Paris.

For my trip this summer, I booked a hotel in the Rue Cler area for just 45 euro for a double room. Since I haven't stayed there yet who knows what its like;
I found it through "Lets Go" and you can e-mail 'Hotel Montebello' (they don't have a website, just an e-mail) to get some more info and see if they have availability. If you are travelling with another person like I am, it was a cheaper alternative to a hostel. hmontebello@aol.com
