Hey, me and a group of friends (5 guys, 21-24 years old) are going to europe for one mont (june 18 - july 18) and we will be going to all big cities like amsterdam, rome, berlin, venice, paris, barcelona, madrid, prague, and a few others, and what I wanted to know is if I need to book any hostels (party hostels preferrably) in advance? We will be spending our weekends in rome, spain, prague, and amsterdam, so I figure we should book at least those hostels in advance. Since we do have 5 people, should we book more hostels in more cities in advance? I just didn't want to know because it takes away our flexibility, but then again, we don't want to be stuck looking for hostels for hours everywhere we go. I would REALLY appreciate some help here, and if anyone knows of great places to stay in any of these cities, that would be real helpful.

i'd book the first few hostels in advance. i waited a week before my trip and i had to some difficulty looking for some decent places to stay. you should definately book it since you guys are going during the busy season and in the major cities. if you're not worried about the cost for beds then you can wait but if you want a nice hostel that is affordable and you have a pretty big group then make your reservations.

i'd book in advance if i were you. definately germany... there probably won't be much available if you're there before july 9th. particularly as you are so many and want to stay in the same room. you don't want to wander for hours with your packs either.
paris, le village was quite sociable.
you may want to consider budget flights... paris to barcelona is a very long train ride... as is barcelona to rome...
