i stayed at aloha. it was an ok place to stay. the area has some cheap groceries and bakeries and the subway entrance is a few minutes walk away. you can even walk to eiffel tower though it'll take you about 10-15 mins.

I stayed at the Absolute and it was fine too. Close to a couple of grocery stores, and the subway. Apparently that area is becoming a bit more trendy in Paris too.

I liked Aloha because it wasn't it a very busy location. Wasn't the best hostel ever, but like rchua said it was near some really really cheap grocery stores. And one day I did walk into the city centre and it was a decent walk.
