Planning a trip throughout europe and would like to tent a good majority of the trip. I would like to find good, straight parks where it would be good and free to camp. I plan to travel throughout Iceland, Norway, Sweden, France, Spain and Italy. Anyone who has had experiences like this, meaning tenting it in these countries, could you help me cooridnate the best parks for this type of traveling? Any advice that someone could give with this type of experience would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from fellow travelers who have experienced what I am after.

hey
most camp sites are way in the outskirts of major cities (if you are interested in that). and are often not easily accessible with public transit. will you have a car in europe? as far as i know you have to pay for campsites as well.

I am in to seeing the countries for what they are not the major tourist sites. I wouldnt think that all camp sites would be pay. Do you know from experience or are you going on what someone has offered to you as advice. I appreciate the input. I am more looking for parks that are rather large and not to pay for a designated campsite, but to walk out into the woods and pitch a tent.

all i know is what i looked into when i went to europe. camp sites always came up as being far from cities and towns. if you are looking for parks i would suggest doing a search for national parks of the countries you are interested in visiting. they will certainly have information about camping and prices.

I know from a collegue, that he spend some time at a city camping near Barcelona. He said he was in the middle of Barcelona (Rambles) in 20 minutes. But this one for sure is not for free.
Most campingsite I know here will ask you, a small amount of money (a couple of euros), as long as you don't want a place with ellectricity and water nearby.
