it is hard to write this, but a very dear friend of mine was *xually assualted by the manager there - she went to bed drunk and woke up in with the manager on top of her in another room.
she passed out and woke up covered in blood and bruises. it is all very disturbing. please do not stay ther, particualrly if you a female.
i wish this was a hoax or a small-minded lie, but it is not.

Eek. That's terrible! I hope your friend will be okay, despite the whole traumatizing event!
Definitely noted and I will not stay there for sure!

I feel i should be doing much more to warn people - on yahoo i see other people have reported similar evetns, os it's not a one-off, but many of the sites require a booking ref to post feedback. this really has been a nightmare.

First of all I hope your friend is doing OK, (at least under the circumstances) and that she is getting all the help she needs.
Secondly, thanks for the warning. If everybody here warns people that are going to Rome to not stay there, it can at least prevent something happening like this again. (Best they would be if this guy, could be arrested).
* A question to all other members, and the moderators: would it be possible (and legal), to introduce a black-list of hostels. I don't mean for places that are dissapointing (that can always happen), but for places like these?

It's really tough to do this as it's impossible to screen where the source of info is coming from. As in, we've had competitor hostels submit things like this or bad reviews in order to make another hostel look bad. I'm not at all saying this is something like that but it's just tough to make any sort of list.

I guess you have to be 100% sure, if you would open a topic like that, and it would be too difficult to confirm the information being correct.
Let's hope these things are handled in the correct way, preventing it from happening again. It's just that these things make me angry and sad.

prevenetion is impossible sadly, and the admin is right about the list. I can't prove anything and fidn ti hard to even think about, but I am trying to do what little i can to reduce risks for other young girls.
just if you know anyone in or going to rome, just ask them to let people know. thanks.

I completely agree with Kim's point-of-view, as it would be difficult to verify information or know the motives of those posting. If this wasn't done properly, legal problems could result.
Rather than creating an "official black list", I think the best policy is to simply post information in the Forums, as rocco has done, based on personal experiences. At least that way, the information is provided to our members here and they can reach their own conclusions.
rocco, I hope your friend is recovering as well as possible, under the circumstances, and receiving whatever assistance she needs.
One question though -- you indicated there have been similar reports of this sort of thing on Yahoo and other Forums. Do these other reports also involve the same Hostel?
