Hello everyone! I am new to this board but have been impressed by the great trade of information given between everyone.

My family of 5 (3 girls, ages 10, 12, 17) are flying out of Stuttgart to go back home but need a good hotel recommendation near the airport as our flight leaves at 7:00!!! I normally like to stay in B&B's but since we're leaving so early, that probably wouldn't be best in Stuttgart. Or would it be possible, given train schedules, to stay in a nearby small town and take the train in to Stuttgart for our flight?

You'd probably want to be at the airport at 5 AM. Maybe there is something in a nearby town that would work, but I'd go for a close-by hotel with an early-morning shuttle. Maybe one of these would work, although you'd likely need two rooms:

This is list that is given by the website of the airport in Stuttgart. it seems that the Mövenpick (reminds me of icecream) is the nearest to the airport at 200m distance: www.stuttgart-airport.com/en/content.php?id=606&submenu_id=6

what time/where's the check-in for the flight? if it's at the Mövenpick airport in Echterdingen, that's at least 20 min South of Stuttgart, by car, 27 min by S-Bahn (but, the 1st S-Bahn of the day is at 04.55 on weekdays=05.22 from the Stuttgart main station. would you need to be there 2 hours before your 7am flight?) so, you might be better off staying at a smaller town closer to the airport.

a smaller town would be more likely to have a B&B than a bigger city like Stuttgart. maybe in Sindelfingen, where the Mercedes factory is located, or Böblingen?

but, i haven't been to the area for years, never flown there. perhaps someone else has more recent info.

Thank you all - I've got to take time to digest all this! Very much appreciated - planning a trip is overwelming to say the least.
