Hi all! Please HELP! I am looking for accomodation in Rome (25 May for 5 nights), it seems all the good hostels are already booked out... Beehive has availability in one of their apartments..are these any good? They are quite pricey, but better than some of the other prices I have seen! I am weary of some hostels where people have complained about excessive noise, which further limits my options.. Any help/advice/comments would be hugely appreciated!!! p.s Has anyone stayed at Gulliver's House in Rome? The reviews are quite good on hostelworld.com

best advice regarding noise when you want to sleep: use earplugs! a package always goes in my bag when i plan to stay someplace where noise might bother my sleep - which is basically everywhere. I am weary of some hostels where people have complained about excessive noise, which further limits my options.. Any help/advice/comments would be hugely appreciated!!! isn't Gulliver's the place where that chick on Globe Treker stayed? p.s Has anyone stayed at Gulliver's House in Rome? The reviews are quite good on hostelworld.com

Well, I'm lucky enough not to need hostels in Rome, so I don't know any, personally. anyway I've been having a look in some sites.."Camping i Pini"? out of the city centre, looks nice and cheap. I found it on flashbooking, I think it's quite as good as hostelworld. good luk with your choice!

Beehive is fab, although haven't stayed in the appartment section (anyone else?). It's a popular hostel so gets booked out quickly. If you can afford the appartment then go for it. Gulliver's is also a popular place amongst these boards (I think it was that place from Globe Trekker too, David, shame it wasn't Ian Wright - he's my hero, in an odd sort of way...but I digress!) as it's pretty good and the location is, like many, close to the main train station. Another suggestion is Alessandro Palace, or you could try the Roma Inn Youth Hostel which is right near the Spanish Steps). If you book these through the GFE website then the site will benefit from the association and you'll be a hero ( ), well, it would be really appreciated! Camping i Pini is a long way out of the city when there are others available and it's better for those with a car/van or tent. Yes it's camping "amongst the pines" but it's a better option for families and campers who want to relax at a full-on campsite/village. They offer a shuttle bus service and there is a train staion "near" it, but it's location limits you to how long you spend in the city in the day (Rome as night is pretty cool) and you'll find Roman traffic annoying in rush hour.
