My boyfriend and I will be in Capri in early August for a few days, height of the tourist season I know I know, everything is very expsensive it seems we're prepared to be paying a little more for accomodations but my question is has anyone been and can recommend a place to stay? As its the end of our trip we're looking for a relaxing few days of sun and sea and would like a place as close to the coast as possible (short walking distance hopefully) and also preferrably with a pool. Any suggestions?? Thanks for the help ;D

Hmm, staying on Capri is beautiful, but as you've probably guessed it isn't expensive. As the island is basically cliffs with a few harbours, you'll either be walking to the beach or paying more to stay closer to the water. I love the Marina Piccolo, and there are a few hotels there: Hotel della Piccolo Marina ( www.hoteldellapiccolamarina.it ) is 4 stars and gorgeous (5mins down to the beach); Villa Brunella www.capri.com/en/c/villa-brunella which has a walk to the Marina Piccola and looks over the "Faraglione" or light house rocks (famous sight on Capri). Otherwise in Capri Town (5mins down to the Marina Grande and a beach by Funicular) there are: Hotel La Minerva www.capri.com/en/c/la-minerva, Hotel La Vega www.capri.com/en/c/la-vega or Hotel San Michele www.capri.com/en/c/san-michele (it's not on the beach but has amazing gardens and views, my favourite). Right up at the top of the island is Anacapri and there's a lovely hotel called Al Mulino www.capri.it/it/c/al-mulino which is surrounded by lemon trees and gardens in a converted farmhouse. Or Il Girasole www.capri.com/en/c/il-girasole There are private and public beaches on Capri - private beaches have a fee, but this included a comfy beach bed and drinks service (how civilised), public beaches are BYO towel and dig a hole in the pebbles. Enjoy! ;D
