Traveling with the GF to Paris for 3 days 2 nights in August sometime, no dates as of yet hopefully all set by end of this weekend. Want to stay as close to the city center as possible so the travel to the major sites isnt a no go.
GF is not too keen on hosteling, but would do a nice enough hostel if we got a double bed private room. Otherwise nice enough budget hotel for me is fine.
Any suggestions?

I stayed at Appihotel which is pretty decent and they have bright clean rooms with private bathrooms. Fairly cheap and a good price and it's in the 2e arrondissement although in the sex shop district (but really.... there's always one in every city!). I would recommend it but I am not sure if it's available. It's listed on hostelworld too but I wouldn't consider it a hostel anyways!

ctwizzy, which area of Paris were you planning to stay? I stayed in a budget Hotel in the Rue Cler area, which was quite convenient as there's a Metro station close by (Ecole Militaire, from what I recall) and it's within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. The Hotel was "basic", but clean and comfortable and the staff were great (I can't remember if it was a two-star or three-star property?).
Given that August is not far off, you might have trouble finding a vacancy though? I often book lodgings two-three months in advance and sometimes have trouble finding a room.
Good luck and happy travels!!!
