You can get a triple room.
Almost certainly the hostel owner will care if you try to squeeze 3 people into a 2-person room. And it's quite likely the room will be so tiny there's scarcely any floor space anyway.

rissama, as WT pointed out, I don't think having one person sleeping on the floor will be an option.
Some Hostels have four-bed Dorms, so if you don't mind at least one room mate that might be something to consider? Even a six-bed Dorm would be good. I'm assuming the main consideration is that all of your party is in the same room?
Cheers!!!

Aside from 4-bed, 6-bed dorm rooms, there are indeed private rooms that have more than 2 beds in it. For these private room, you'll need to book the whole room though and there are often 3-bed rooms, but usually 4 or 5 depending on the hostel/B&B/guesthouse.
You should check out hostelworld and skim through the places and find out which ones do offer these special rooms.
EDIT - If you are planning to stay in the UK, it is worthwhile to check out Travelodge UK for they are economical and have special 15-pound and 26-pound room rates. They have family rooms (fits 4 people) and for 15-pounds or 26-pounds for the entire room, that's a huge bargain and much cheaper than a hostel!

You can also pay for the fourth person and let it go empty. That may or may not be cheaper than booking a triple hotel room.
