Here is my Dilemma...I plan on going to Europe next summer after I graduate High School. I will still be 17 but the person I will be going with will be 18. Will I have any problems getting into the Hostels? I just know in the U.S. you have to be 18 to rent a hotel room, and I know Europe is much less strict with their age requirements for things. Lemme know. Thanks.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Some hostels in Europe have an age range of who's allowed to stay there but most of them are welcoming to U-18's and etc. If there is an age issue, they will say so (for the most part) on their info page (such as on HostelWorld). It should be fine

as i recall, under 18's can get a free Hosteling International membership. also, and this topic came up recently, just because many European countries have minimum drinking ages under 18, clubs may still limit entry to 18+ patrons.

So overall I shouldn't have a problem...I mean most Hostels are locally owned so im sure I can work something out if there is a problem, and they are there to help and be accomodating so i'm not gonna worry about it...Thanks for the help...well 2 moths ago lol.

bs1313, I doubt that you'll have any age-related problems using Hostels in Europe (especially considering they're usually called "youth" Hostels). However, it wouldn't hurt to "touch base" with a local Hostel (if there's one in your area?) and perhaps purchase a membership. If this is your first trip to Europe, you might want to consider HI Hostels, as they're well run, have predictable facilities, and a good selection of properties. Check www.hihostels.com/web/membership.en.htm?lang=E&hcou=Y&noigs=&country=US#nas for further information. Cheers!

check out this form: www.ilrg.com/forms/auth-foreigntravel.htmlbut, there's no need to buy a formatted version. just cut & paste. and, as i'm not a lawyer, i have no idea if this is necessary or sufficient for your planned trip. - d Here is my Dilemma...I plan on going to Europe next summer after I graduate High School.
